Tennessee Brew Works and George Dickel have partnered once again to release the Tennessee Brew Works Vintage TENN. NO. 12 Imperial Porter aged in George Dickel No. 12 whisky barrels. This is a follow-up to the TENN No.12 Belgian Style Quad that they teamed up for earlier this year. The beer will be available for purchase starting November 30th and will be sold at the Tennessee Brew Works Taproom as well as the Cascade Hollow Distillery in Tennessee.
The beer was brewed as a limited-batch and spent four months aging in George Dickel No. 12 barrels. In fact, the oak tannins from the George Dickel barrels provide a beautiful balance to the imperial porter, and people reaching for the Tennessee Brew Works Vintage TENN. NO. 12 Imperial Porter aged in George Dickel No. 12 whisky barrels can expect layers of dark and bitter chocolate, roasted coffee, vanilla and subtle cinnamon.
The first thing you'll notice is that this beer looks just like it sounds, like a dark imperial porter approaching midnight black on a moonless night. Next, your nose will fall in love as it picks up on the chocolate, coffee, soft spice aroma along with smoky notes from the George Dickel No. 12 barrel. Your taste buds will be equally happy with the layers of dark and bitter chocolate, roasted coffee, faint cinnamon, whisky and vanilla.
TENN. NO. 12 Imperial Porter aged in George Dickel No. 12 whisky barrels clocks in at 9% ABV and 40 IBUs with a medium to dry finish. It'll pair perfectly with braised meats, roasted vegetables and desserts of all kind.
