Chicago-based craft brewery Berghoff Brewery announced plans to expand distribution of their line of craft beers to the Florida market for the first time. Partnering with Cavalier Distributing, the beers will become available throughout Florida.
We recently attended an event at the Sidebar on Calle Ocho for the Afrohead Premium Aged Dark Rum Launch party. The event had good live music, lively attendance and a showcased Afrohead Rum , a surprisingly nice dark seven year rum produced by a Bahamian company called Harbour Island Rum.

You might remember Jason, aka @ZauderWithaZee, from his guest post about the mack House awhile ago. He recently paid a visit to Laser Wolf and had this to say....
If you love craft beer but happen to be a jerk, than I’m sorry, madam and/or sir, but The Laser Wolf in Fort Lauderdale is not the place for you. The bar prides itself on their “No Jerks, Yes Beer” motto, and I can’t say I’ve ever met a jerk there but I have said ‘yes’ to the many fine beers they serve.
Laser Wolfs has 12 taps and often has hard-to-find beers like Big Lushious and Backwoods Bastard from Founders Brewing Company, Terrapin Beer Company’s Wake-n-Bake Coffee Oatmeal Imperial Stout, and Rugbrod from The Bruery. Florida breweries are well-represented, as I’ve noticed Father Francisco, a Belgian golden ale from Wynwood Brewing Company and Due South Brewing’s Cafe Ole Espresso Porter on tap.
Jacksonville’s Beer Scene Offers Plenty of Tasty Options
When your city has tons of award winning craft brews you want to make sure everyone, especially those visiting from out of town, gets a chance to enjoy all of them, that’s why on this December 4, Visit Jacksonville and Jacksonville’s craft breweries are unveiling the new Jax Ale Trail and the Jax Ale Trail Brewery Passport!
We had a great time at the South Florida BrewFest at the Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management at Florida International University. Their goal is to help continue to influence the growing education on craft beer and it’s Florida breweries, brewpubs, and homebrew organizations. The great turnout by the local breweries made this an awesome #DrinkLocal event!
Every now and again you see somehting that makes you just say "WOW.
Recognizing that there aren't many alternatives for people with beer taps in their homes other than the boring black plastic handles or perhaps a branded handle that somehow was spirited away from a bar, a craft beer enthusiast in Tampa has created a line of hand-crafted tap handles that will add class to any home bar (or commercial one too).
Recently I asked outloud if anyone was interested in doing a guest post (offer still stands btw) and Chris at FloridabeerBlog gave it a seconds thought and quickly volunteered. He offered to write about three beers from one of my most favorite places to hang out, Funky Buddha Brewing in Oakland Park. How could I say no, right? Anyways, here's what Chris had to say...
