Anniversary Party on February 29th includes limited-edition brew
Leap Day only happens once every four years, so why not celebrate it with a big party? Fat Point Brewing is hosting its 5th Anniversary bash on February 29th, with live music, a limited-edition brew, and lots of fun.
“With Leap Year, there’s an extra day in 2020. What a fun, memorable way to celebrate Fat Point’s 5th anniversary, while also having the opportunity to give back to the community we love,” said Fat Point Head Brewer Jessy Abbate.
Fat Point is Charlotte County’s first local craft brewery. Part of the proceeds from the 5th Anniversary Bash will benefit two local charities, Veterans Initiative for Therapeutic Arts - VITA and Animal Welfare League of Charlotte County.
The family-friendly event is free and begins at noon with $5 pints from Fat Point and a seafood boil. A variety of outdoor games will be featured for the whole family to enjoy along with live music. Fat Point will also release a limited-edition version of Bru Man Chu, aged five months in tequila barrels. It will be available on tap or to take home in 4-packs of 12 oz. bottles.
“We decided to age Bru Man Chu for five months to celebrate our five years in Punta Gorda. It gives our award-winning brew an added kick!” Abbate added.
Since opening in 2015, Fat Point has received a number of awards from the U.S. Open Beer Championship. In 2019, the brewery won a silver medal in the Oatmeal Stout Category, and a bronze medal in the Rye Beer category for Ryeght Angle IPA. In 2018, Fat Point’s Bru Man Chu beer took home a gold medal.
The Leap Day party will include registration for Fat Point’s 2020/2021 Mug Club. Craft beer fans can get a membership for $100, which includes a new mug from a local artist, a limited-edition Mug Club shirt, as well as a 10 percent discount on all pours in the taproom, exclusive events, beer releases and specials throughout the year.
Fat Point’s taproom is located at 611 Charlotte St. in Punta Gorda.
